Assistant Foreign Minister Chen Xiaodong Holds Talks with Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Henry Oryem Okello of Uganda

On March 5, 2018, Assistant Foreign Minister Chen Xiaodong held talks with visiting Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Henry Oryem Okello of Uganda.

Chen Xiaodong expressed that China and Uganda enjoy profound traditional friendship and relations between the two countries boast sound development. Uganda is an important cooperation partner of China in Africa. China stands ready to increase political mutual trust and enhance practical cooperation in various fields with Uganda, so as to elevate bilateral relations to new highs. China welcomes Uganda to actively participate in the Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), which will be held in China this September.

Henry Oryem Okello expressed that Uganda is satisfied with the development of bilateral relations. The country is willing to actively participate in the "Belt and Road" initiative and strengthen cooperation with China mainly in such fields as agriculture, tourism and mining industry. It is expected that the FOCAC Summit will be successfully held.

Both sides also exchanged views on international and regional topics of common interest.
