Assistant Foreign Minister Deng Li Meets with Outgoing Ugandan Ambassador to China Chrispus Kiyonga

On June 25, 2021, Assistant Foreign Minister Deng Li met with outgoing Ugandan Ambassador to China Chrispus Kiyonga.

Deng Li spoke highly of Chrispus Kiyonga's efforts to promote China-Uganda relations during his tenure as Ugandan Ambassador to China. He hopes that Chrispus Kiyonga will continue to care about China's development and support the cooperation between the two countries after leaving his post. Deng Li said that China-Uganda relations have maintained a strong development momentum in recent years, and the bilateral cooperation in various fields is progressing smoothly. China is willing to deepen political mutual trust with Uganda, enhance coordination and cooperation in international affairs, deepen practical cooperation in infrastructure construction, economy, trade and other fields, and continue to join hands in fighting COVID-19 for the final victory.

Chrispus Kiyonga expressed his gratitude for China's support during his tenure, and warmly congratulated, on behalf of the Ugandan government and its people, on the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. He said that Uganda-China relations have become increasingly closer. Uganda is grateful for China's help in developing its infrastructure, building industrial parks, and providing enormous assistance against the pandemic. Uganda is ready to work with China to achieve greater development of the comprehensive and cooperative partnership between the two countries.
