Special Representative of the Chinese Government on African Affairs Liu Yuxi Visits Uganda

From July 3 to 4, 2023, Special Representative of the Chinese Government on African Affairs Liu Yuxi visited Uganda, during which he successively met with Ugandan Foreign Minister Gen Jeje Odongo and former Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda. Chinese Ambassador to Uganda Zhang Lizhong attended relevant activities.

Liu Yuxi said, under the guidance of the two heads of state, China-Uganda relations have seen continuous and rapid development. China is ready to work with Uganda to further strengthen friendly exchanges in various fields and at all levels, advance strategic communication and coordination on international and regional affairs, and promote the sound and stable development of China-Uganda comprehensive cooperative partnership.

Odongo spoke highly of the bilateral relations and thanked the Chinese government and people for their support and assistance to Uganda's development and revitalization. He said that Uganda is ready to further strengthen political mutual trust between the two countries, deepen practical cooperation in various fields and enhance coordination and cooperation in international and regional affairs, so as to continuously take the bilateral relations to a new level. Rugunda stressed that China and Uganda have always stood on the side of peace and are ready to make joint efforts and express common aspirations for world peace and security.
