Special Envoy of the Chinese Government and Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Ming Visits Zimbabwe

On June 4, 2015, Special Envoy of the Chinese Government and Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Ming respectively met with President Robert Mugabe and Foreign Minister Simbarashe Mumbengegwi of Zimbabwe in Harare, capital of Zimbabwe. They exchanged in-depth views on bilateral relations as well as international and regional topics of common interest.

Zhang Ming said that this year marks the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Zimbabwe. The two countries have maintained a sound momentum in high-level exchanges, steadily advanced economic and trade cooperation and kept close coordination and cooperation in international and regional affairs. The Chinese side is willing to take the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations as an opportunity to promote further development of friendly cooperation between China and Zimbabwe so as to further play the exemplary role of China-Zimbabwe relations in China-Africa relations.

The Zimbabwean side expressed that Zimbabwe-China relations have enjoyed a special friendship and thanked China for its long-standing and selfless assistance and support to the economic and social development of Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe attaches great importance to the development of bilateral relations and is willing to work with China to strengthen bilateral practical cooperation in various fields and push forward Zimbabwe-China relations for new and constant progress.

Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Ming also gave an interview to major media of Zimbabwe.
