On December 1 local time, President Xi Jinping held talks with President Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe in Harare. The two heads of state spoke highly of China-Zimbabwe traditional friendship, jointly planned the future development of the bilateral relations and reached a significant consensus on deepening practical cooperation.

Xi Jinping emphasized that China and Zimbabwe should not only be good friends in politics but also be good partners in development. Both sides should transform China-Zimbabwe friendship into more motivation of deepening practical cooperation to promote common development and prosperity.

Xi Jinping pointed out that China and Zimbabwe are real all-weather friends and enjoy a long-term, enduring and unshakeable traditional friendship. Both sides have helped and sincerely cooperated with each other in the course of their development. China will never forget its old friends. My visit to Zimbabwe this time is to consolidate China-Zimbabwe traditional friendship, deepen practical cooperation and push the bilateral relations to a new stage for greater benefits of the two peoples.

Xi Jinping stressed that China will continue to uphold the policy of sincerity, real results, affinity and good faith towards Africa and the correct viewpoint on righteousness and benefit, and join efforts with Zimbabwe to make China and Zimbabwe good partners, good friends and good brothers featuring equal treatment, mutual support, mutual benefits, win-win results and common development. China will, as always, support Zimbabwe in safeguarding sovereignty, security and development rights and interests, and support Zimbabwe to play a bigger role in international and regional affairs. Both sides should maintain high-level exchanges, enhance exchanges between political parties, legislatures, local governments and others, and promote cooperation in various fields for all-round development. China is willing to promote China-Zimbabwe economic and trade cooperation to develop toward the optimization of production, processing and investment operation, encourage more Chinese enterprises to invest in Zimbabwe, give priority to building modern agriculture industry chains, mining industry chains and manufacturing bases, participate in infrastructure construction and operation in aspects such as electricity, information and communication, and transportation, and innovate in financing channels. Both sides should strengthen exchanges and cooperation in people-to-people and cultural engagement including education, culture, public health, tourism, youth and media to make China-Zimbabwe friendship more deeply rooted in people's hearts. We are willing to strengthen coordination and cooperation on major issues such as the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and boost cooperation in international organizations with Zimbabwe so as to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of the developing countries and promote democratization of international relations.

Xi Jinping pointed out that China is willing to join the African countries to march forward and help each other on the path of development. I expect to discuss the great cause of the development of China-Africa relations with the African friends at the upcoming Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in Johannesburg so as to jointly open up a bright future for China-Africa friendly cooperation and establish a new milestone in the history of China-Africa friendly cooperation.

Robert Mugabe said that he warmly welcomes President Xi Jinping to visit Zimbabwe. China is Zimbabwe's all-weather friend. Zimbabwe highly appreciates China's constant sincere treatment to Zimbabwe and other African countries, and thanks China for its long-term valuable help to Zimbabwe in various aspects. Zimbabwe hopes to learn from China's experience in its economic and social development, continue receiving China's support and strengthen cooperation with China in fields such as agriculture, industry and infrastructure.

After the talks, the two heads of state witnessed the signing of the agreement between the two governments on economic and technological cooperation and cooperative documents in fields such as infrastructure construction, production capacity, investment, financing and wildlife protection.

On that afternoon, Xi Jinping also laid a wreath to Zimbabwe's National Heroes Acre.

Wang Huning, Li Zhanshu, Yang Jiechi and others attended the above activities.
