Li Keqiang Meets with President Emmerson Mnangagwa of Zimbabwe

On the afternoon of April 4, 2018, Premier Li Keqiang met at the Great Hall of the People with President Emmerson Mnangagwa of Zimbabwe, who was in China for a state visit.

Li Keqiang stated that Zimbabwe is an important cooperative partner of China in Africa. President Xi Jinping held fruitful talks with Mr. President yesterday, upgrading China-Zimbabwe relations to a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership. China stands ready to continue upholding the principle of sincere friendship and equal treatment to make bilateral traditional friendship continuously glow with new vitality and open up a new chapter for bilateral relations.

Li Keqiang pointed out that China is willing to, together with Zimbabwe, better give play to complementary advantages, innovate cooperation approaches, and deepen cooperation in such key areas as infrastructure construction, agriculture, production capacity, and human resources. The Chinese government encourages competent Chinese companies to go to Zimbabwe for carrying out business cooperation and is willing to provide support and assistance within its capacity for the economic and social development of Zimbabwe, so as to better achieve mutual benefit and win-win results.

Emmerson Mnangagwa said that the friendship between Zimbabwe and China enjoys a long history. The new government of Zimbabwe is committed to further strengthening traditional friendship with China, consolidating political mutual trust between the two countries, and deepening mutually beneficial cooperation in such areas as economy, trade, infrastructure, energy, agriculture, and tourism so as to push bilateral relations to new highs in accordance with the new positioning of the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.
