Li Zhanshu Meets with President Emmerson Mnangagwa of Zimbabwe

On April 4, 2018, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) Li Zhanshu met at the Great Hall of the People with President Emmerson Mnangagwa of Zimbabwe.

Li Zhanshu said that China and Zimbabwe are true friends standing together through thick and thin, good partners pursuing win-win cooperation and good brothers with closer relations. Yesterday, President Xi Jinping and Mr. President held fruitful talks and jointly announced the establishment of China-Zimbabwe comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, charting the course for the development of bilateral relations in the new era. The NPC is willing to work with the Parliament of Zimbabwe to comprehensively implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state and take the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and the "Belt and Road" construction as opportunities to give full play to the functional role of the NPC and Zimbabwean Parliament and enhance exchanges on legislation, in a bid to provide sound legal safeguards and convenient policy services for enterprise cooperation and personnel exchanges between China and Zimbabwe, and continuously promote China-Zimbabwe friendly cooperation to new highs.

Expressing his full admiration for China's development achievements, Emmerson Mnangagwa stated that he supports the legislative institutions of the two countries in strengthening cooperation, and that Zimbabwe will continue to firmly adhere to the one-China policy.
