Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi Holds Talks with Chad's Foreign Minister Faki

On October 13, 2011, Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi held talks in the Foreign Ministry with Chad's Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration and International Cooperation Moussa Faki Mahamat.

Yang said since China and Chad resumed diplomatic relations five years ago, bilateral relations have maintained a sound momentum of rapid development with the joint efforts of both sides. Both sides have increased political trust, shown mutual political understanding and support on issues concerning their respective core interests and major concerns and had regular exchange of views and coordinated positions on international and regional issues. Both sides have conducted fruitful economic and trade cooperation and increased cultural exchanges. China attaches importance to developing relations with Chad and is willing to make joint efforts with Chad to further strengthen mutual political trust, expand economic and trade cooperation and enhance humanities exchanges so as to promote bilateral friendly cooperative relations to a new level.

Faki expressed full agreement with Foreign Minister Yang's positive comments on bilateral relations. He said since the resumption of diplomatic relations, friendship and cooperation between the two countries have shown new vitality with rapid growth of bilateral trade and deepening cooperation in various fields. The two sides have enhanced coordination and cooperation on major international affairs and share the same or similar views and positions on many major international and regional issues. Chad attaches great importance to developing ties with China and would further strengthen political mutual trust with China, keep closer high-level visits and expand mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of energy. Chad is also ready to constantly consolidate and enhance the friendship between the two peoples and remain committed to establishing and developing long-term strategic cooperative partnership.

The two sides also exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern.
