Xi Jinping Meets with President Idriss Deby of Chad

On October 15, 2015, President Xi Jinping met with President Idriss Deby of Chad at the Great Hall of the People.

Xi Jinping welcomed Idriss Deby to attend the China 2015 Poverty Reduction and Development Forum. Xi Jinping pointed out that Chad is China's important cooperative partner in Africa. China attaches great importance to its relations with Chad. I am willing to work with Mr. President to continuously deepen bilateral friendly and mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields and promote the comprehensive and in-depth development of China-Chad relations so as to better benefit the two peoples. China is willing to become a reliable partner for Chad to achieve industrialization and modernization. The two sides should enhance strategic mutual trust, boost friendly exchanges at all levels and in various fields and strengthen communication and coordination on major international issues. Both sides should take full advantages of the their highly complementary economies, focus on energy cooperation and actively expand practical cooperation in sectors like production capacity, infrastructure construction, industrial park development, agriculture, telecommunications, prevention and control of desertification and talent training. China is ready to strengthen cooperation in peace and security with Chad and help Chad improve its ability to safeguard peace and stability. Both sides should intensify people-to-people and cultural exchanges and promote cooperation in education, public health and other fields.

Idriss Deby noted that the Chinese government has offered long-term and generous assistance to the vast developing countries including those on the African Continent. In recent years, the Chad-China relations have developed in an all-round way, and Chad has also received the precious support and help from China in the process of realizing national stability and development. The Chadian government and people appreciated that greatly. The people of both countries have also established strong mutual trust and friendship. Chad is ready to continue to strengthen cooperation with China in transportation infrastructure, telecommunications, financing, agriculture and other areas. As a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, Chad is willing to strengthen coordination and cooperation with the Chinese side on major international and regional issues and together devote to international peace and stability.
