President Idriss Deby of Chad Meets with Yang Jiechi

On May 7, 2016 local time, President Idriss Deby of Chad met with State Councilor Yang Jiechi in N'Djamena.

Yang Jiechi stated that President Xi Jinping and Mr. President held two meetings last year, charting the course for the development of China-Chad relations. The China-Chad cooperation is faced with new opportunities. China is willing to, together with Chad, implement the important consensus reached by both heads of state, further enhance political mutual trust, take the implementation of outcomes from the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Summit as an opportunity to dovetail development strategies, strengthen cooperation in petrochemistry, agriculture, animal husbandry, infrastructure construction, water conservancy, human resource exploration, poverty alleviation, green development and other areas, and encourage more Chinese enterprises to make investment and launch cooperation in Chad so as to assist the economic and social development of Chad.

Idriss Deby expressed that as a long-term supporter to the solidarity and development cause of Africa, China is a good friend of the Chadian and African people. With fruitful results, both Chad-China cooperation and Africa-China cooperation win wide support among the people. Chad is satisfied with the development of bilateral relations, appreciates China's help in Chad's economic construction, welcomes Chinese enterprises to invest in Chad and stands ready to further promote mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries in various fields.

On the same day, Yang Jiechi also held talks with Prime Minister Albert Pahimi Padacke of Chad. Both sides agreed that bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation is quite productive, and the two countries will further strengthen practical cooperation in areas including transportation, electricity, mining industry, water conservancy, agriculture, and animal husbandry.
