Wang Yi: China and South Sudan Enjoy Relations of Mutual Trust, Mutual Support and Mutual Cooperation

On July 2, 2014, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met at request with Vice President of South Sudan and Deputy Chairman of the Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM) James Wani Igga in Beijing.

Wang Yi said that since the establishment of diplomatic relationship between China and South Sudan three years ago, the bilateral relations have enjoyed fast development based on mutual trust, mutual support and mutual cooperation. China is willing to work with South Sudan to further deepen practical cooperation in all fields and promote new and continuous progress in the bilateral relations. China is willing to continually play a positive role in promoting an early realization of stability and development in South Sudan. Wang Yi hoped that South Sudan will take further and effective measures to ensure the safety of the Chinese agencies and personnel in the country.

Wang Yi stressed that during the first visit to Africa last year, President Xi Jinping proposed the concept of "sincerity, real results, affinity and good faith" as China's policy towards Africa and the right approach to morality and interest. During his visit to Africa this year, Premier Li Keqiang further put forward the "461" China-Africa Cooperation Framework. He hopes that the bilateral relations will achieve a faster development within the overall framework of China-Africa cooperation.

Wani said that the government of South Sudan and the SPLM attach great importance to developing relations with China, appreciate China's generous and selfless help to South Sudan, speak highly of China's important efforts in promoting dialogues and the course of conciliation in South Sudan, and hope to further expand friendly and mutually beneficial cooperation with China in all fields and at all levels. Wani reiterated that the government of South Sudan will do its utmost to ensure the safety of the Chinese personnel and agencies in the country
