On February 18, 2016, Special Representative of the Chinese Government on African Affairs Ambassador Zhong Jianhua attended in Nairobi the High-Level Meeting of the Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission (JMEC) Partners Group for South Sudan jointly held by Kenya and the US. In his statement, Ambassador Zhong Jianhua spoke positively of the JMEC's efforts in promoting implementation of the South Sudan Peace Agreement, appreciated every partner's support for implementation of the agreement, and elaborated China's principled stance on the South Sudanese issue, saying that China will continue playing a constructive role in realizing peace, stability and development in South Sudan. Representatives of about 20 parties including the UN Mission in the Republic of South Sudan (UNMISS), the African Union Commission, the UK, Norway, Ethiopia and Sudan attended the meeting.
