Special Representative of the Chinese Government on African Affairs Xu Jinghu Visits Sudan

From December 21 to 22, 2016, Special Representative of the Chinese Government on African Affairs Xu Jinghu visited Sudan and met respectively with First Vice President Bakri Hassan Saleh of Sudan and Foreign Minister Ibrahim Ghandour of Sudan, exchanging views on China-Sudan relations and the situation in South Sudan.

Special Representative Xu Jinghu said that since the establishment of strategic partnership announced by the two heads of state last year, political mutual trust has been further enhanced and practical cooperation in various fields has achieved steady development. China is willing to maintain strategic mutual trust and expand mutually beneficial cooperation with Sudan so as to constantly push forward bilateral strategic partnership. Special Representative Xu Jinghu briefed the Sudanese side on relevant information of her earlier visits to South Sudan and Ethiopia, stressing that China is willing to make joint efforts with Sudan and other relevant parties to promote an early realization of peace, stability and development in South Sudan.

The Sudanese side noted that Sudan thanks China for its long-term and valuable support to Sudan on international occasions and selfless assistance to Sudan's economic and social development. Sudan is willing to constantly deepen strategic mutual trust and push forward pragmatic cooperation with China. Highly appreciating China's constructive role in the South Sudan peace process, Sudan is willing to strengthen communication and coordination with China to jointly advance the peace process in South Sudan.

Special Representative Xu Jinghu gave an interview to Chinese and foreign media during the visit.
