On September 7, 2017, Assistant Foreign Minister Chen Xiaodong met with visiting Minister of Finance and Economic Planning Stephen Dhieu Dau Ayik of South Sudan and his delegation. H.E. He Xiangdong, Chinese Ambassador to South Sudan, attended the meeting.

Chen Xiaodong said that China attaches importance to developing bilateral relations and stands ready to make joint efforts with South Sudan to promote bilateral cooperation in various fields for more outcomes.

Stephen Dhieu Dau Ayik said that South Sudan and China enjoy a sound relationship. China actively promotes the peace process in South Sudan and helps South Sudan to develop its economy and improve people’s well-being, for which South Sudan is grateful.

Both sides also exchanged views on the situation in South Sudan and other topics of common concern.
