Assistant Foreign Minister Chen Xiaodong Holds Talks with Special Envoy of President and Minister of Presidential Affairs Mayiik Ayii Deng of South Sudan

On June 21, 2018, Assistant Foreign Minister Chen Xiaodong held talks with visiting Special Envoy of President and Minister of Presidential Affairs Mayiik Ayii Deng of South Sudan.

Chen Xiaodong expressed that China has always been supporting the efforts of the South Sudanese government in safeguarding national peace and stability, promoting economic development and improving people's livelihood. China will continue to actively promote the peace process of South Sudan and provide assistance within its due capacity for the development of South Sudan.

Mayiik Ayii Deng expressed that China is a good partner who sincerely supports and helps the development of African countries. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between South Sudan and China 7 years ago, bilateral relations have maintained a sound development momentum. South Sudan attaches high importance to developing its relations with China. It is believed that bilateral relations and practical cooperation will achieve greater development under the joint efforts of the two countries.

Both sides also exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern.
