On March 14, 2016, Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Haixing who was in Albania for political consultation between the Foreign Ministries of the two countries met with Prime Minister Edi Rama of Albania.

Edi Rama spoke positively of the development of Albania-China relations, and said Albania is willing to further deepen bilateral pragmatic cooperation in infrastructure, tourism and other fields. Developing cooperation between the Central and Eastern European countries (CEEC) and China serves the interests of all parties, and Albania will continue to strongly support and actively participate in it.

Liu Haixing said China would like to work with the Albanian side to constantly consolidate the traditional friendship, deepen political mutual trust, and make full use of China-CEEC cooperation and other platforms to promote both sides to achieve more tangible cooperation results and thus benefit the two peoples.
