From March 13 to 14, 2016, Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Haixing visited Albania, met with Foreign Minister Ditmir Bushati of Albania and held political consultation between the Foreign Ministries of the two countries with Deputy Foreign Minister Selim Belortaja of Albania.

Both sides exchanged views on bilateral relations, "16+1 cooperation", and international and regional issues of common concern.
