Leaders of Bosnia and Herzegovina Meets With Li Zhaoxing

On March 15, 2005, Presidency Members Sulejman Tihic and Dragan Covic, Chairman of Council of Ministers Adnan Terzic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, met with the visiting Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing of China.

During the meeting, Tihic and Covic said that the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina maintain friendly feelings toward the Chinese people. They are satisfied with the smooth growth of bilateral relations, happy to develop relations with a trust-worthy partner like China and confident to the prospects of friendly cooperation between the two countries. Bosnia and Herzegovina thanks China for the unselfish support, respects the sovereignty and territorial integrity of China and supports the grand cause of peaceful reunification of China.

Terzic said that Bosnia and Herzegovina and China enjoy sound political relations and there is still large space for economic and trade cooperation. In the crucial period of reconstructing the country, Bosnia and Herzegovina wishes to learn from the development experience of China, strengthen economic and trade cooperation between the two countries, expand bilateral trade volumes, and deepen the friendly relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and China.

The Chinese people and the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina enjoy long-term friendship. Bilateral relations have been developing steadily since the establishment of diplomatic ties 10 years ago. The Chinese side is willing to work together with Bosnia and Herzegovina to accelerate the growth of bilateral relations in the principle of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefits.

Li Zhaoxing also held meeting with Mladen Ivanic, Foreign Minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the same day. Li Zhaoxing proposed that both countries take the opportunity of the 10th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties to deepen economic and trade relations, expand the cooperation in culture, health and other areas. Ivanic reaffirmed that Bosnia and Herzegovina will always pursue One-China policy. Both countries exchanged their views on issues such as BalKan situation, the role of United Nations, the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula.
