On April 3, 2010, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao exchanged congratulatory messages with Nikola Spiric, chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, to mark the 15th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries. Wen and Spiric, in their messages, spoke highly of the positive progress that has been made since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1995. The two leaders also pledged joint efforts to boost their friendly cooperative relationship based on the principles of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit.

On the same day, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi also exchanged congratulatory messages with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Sven Alkalaj on the anniversary of ties.
