From July 2 to 3, 2023, Special Representative of the Chinese Government on European Affairs Wu Hongbo visited North Macedonia, during which he met with Special Foreign Policy Adviser of the President of North Macedonia Goce Karajanov, Chief of Cabinet of the Prime Minister Martin Popov and Foreign Relations Advisor to the Prime Minister, and held discussions and exchanges with think tank scholars and journalists of North Macedonia.

The two sides mainly exchanged views on China-North Macedonia relations and regional security issues, among others, and agreed to take the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and North Macedonia this year as an opportunity to further consolidate traditional friendship, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, and work for the continuous development of China-North Macedonia friendly cooperative relations.
