Wang Yi: Hope Poland will Cherish the Trust from the Chinese Side and Continue to Play the Role as a Bridge and Bond

On July 8, 2019 local time, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs Jacek Czaputowicz of Poland at the Myślewicki Palace in Warsaw. Jacek Czaputowicz particularly briefed the history of the talks between China and the United States (US) at the place in the past.

Wang Yi thanked Mr. Foreign Minister for holding talks with him at the Myślewicki Palace, a place of historical significance. Over 10 plus years from the 1950s to the early 1970s, both the Chinese and the US sides held more than 100 ambassadorial-level talks here to realize the normalization of bilateral relations. The important inspiration from the history is that despite the differences in social systems and ideologies, as long as both sides can sit down and hold dialogues on an equal footing in line with the spirit of mutual respect, they can always find solutions to the problems no matter how difficult the problems are, and find ways of peaceful co-existence no matter how serious their dispute is. During the negotiations between China and the US, Poland became a bridge and bond for the two countries and was trusted by the Chinese side. The trust is valuable and thus should be cherished. In the new historical period, it is hoped that China and Poland will maintain and carry forward such mutual trust. China-Poland relations are open and inclusive without targeting or influencing any third party, and therefore can go well hand in hand with and complement other partnerships. It is hoped that Poland will continue to be the bridge and bond between China and Western countries as well as between Asia and Europe.
