Li Keqiang and Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta Jointly Meet the Press, Introducing Achievements of China-CEEC Summit

On 26 November local time, after co-chairing the China-CEEC Summit with Prime Ministers of CEE countries in Bucharest, Premier Li Keqiang of the State Council jointly met the press with Prime Minister Victor Ponta of Romania which is the host country, introducing the achievements of the Summit.

Li Keqiang said that the Summit issued the Bucharest action guideline on China-CEEC cooperation. It will greatly promote China-CEEC cooperation and is conducive to the European integration process and to the deepening of China-EU comprehensive strategic partnership so as to push for a balanced, sustained development of China-EU relations through China's opening up to the west and Europe’s “Look East” and to bring tangible benefits to both peoples. The key now is to turn the blueprint into a reality. During the current Summit, China and Romania jointly decided to establish bilateral infrastructure working groups to discuss promoting cooperation. China, Hungary and Serbia jointly announced to cooperate in building Hungary-Serbia railway. Quite a number of countries expressed willingness to explore energy cooperation with China in the fields of nuclear power, hydropower and thermal power. China is ready to actively consider importing more safe and high-quality agricultural and livestock products from CEE countries. Our cooperation will have an effect of 1 plus 16 being far greater than 17. China is ready to continue further keeping close bilateral partnership with CEE countries based on the principles of mutual respect and equality to ensure that China’s cooperation with Europe and that with other countries in the world will complement each other to jointly contribute to creating a harmonious and better world.

Ponta expressed that state leaders of CEE countries met successfully with Premier Li Keqiang and they reached important consensus on deepening CEE-China cooperation. Both sides also successfully held an economic and trade forum and yielded a series of rich cooperation outcomes. China is a major cooperative partner of CEE countries and cooperation between both sides is not only in line with each other’s interest, but is also conducive to the development of EU-China relations. CEE countries are ready to work with China to effectively implement the outcomes of the Summit so as to expand cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, investment, agriculture, finance and infrastructure construction. The development of China’s high-speed railways has made enormous achievements. CEE countries are ready to conduct cooperation with China on this.
