On the afternoon of September 1, 2014, Premier Li Keqiang and Prime Minister Victor-Viorel Ponta of Romania jointly met the press after their talks held at the Great Hall of the People.

Li Keqiang briefed on the results of the talks between Premier of China and Prime Minister of Romania. He expressed that this year marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relationship and the 10th anniversary of the establishment of comprehensive friendly cooperative partnership between China and Romania. Bilateral relations are standing at a new historical starting point. Prime Minister Ponta and I both agreed that China and Romania should seize the opportunity to expand bilateral trade and investment, deepen cooperation in key areas and encourage enterprises of both countries to expand mutual investment. We have just witnessed the signing of the Agreement for Cooperation between the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of Romania Concerning Peaceful Uses of Nuclear Energy and other documents. I believe that this will be conducive to deepening bilateral cooperation in energy and other areas and creating new highlights. We also agreed to carry out a variety of activities to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the establishment of the bilateral diplomatic relationship, establish cultural centers in each other's country at an early date and strengthen exchanges and cooperation between youth and in education and other areas so as to inject inexhaustible driving force into the long-term and sound development of bilateral relations. I believe that, through joint efforts of both sides, China-Romania comprehensive friendly cooperative partnership will continue to reach new heights.

Ponta expressed that Romania-China relations develop rapidly and bilateral cooperation yields fruitful results. China boasts sophisticated technology and competitiveness in the area of infrastructure construction such as energy and high-speed rail. The Romanian side is willing to strengthen cooperation with China in relevant areas to promote bilateral cooperation for more results.
