Zhang Dejiang Meets with Prime Minister Victor-Viorel Ponta of Romania

On September 2, 2014, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC) Zhang Dejiang met with Prime Minister Victor-Viorel Ponta of Romania at the Great Hall of the People.

Zhang Dejiang said that since the establishment of diplomatic relationship between China and Romania, bilateral relations have developed smoothly and steadily. Especially at present, political mutual trust is constantly enhancing and cooperation in various fields continues to deepen. Bilateral relations are in the best period in history. This year marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relationship and the 10th anniversary of the establishment of comprehensive friendly cooperative partnership between China and Romania. Legislatures of both countries should strengthen cooperation and exchanges and adapt to the new situation of development of bilateral relations so as to make new contributions to the development of bilateral relations. The NPC stands ready to strengthen exchanges of experience with the Parliament of Romania in lawmaking and governance and administration of state affairs and provide better legal protection and people-to-people and cultural environment for deepening bilateral cooperation in various fields so as to constantly push bilateral relations to new levels.

Ponta said that Romania and China enjoy long-term friendship and cooperation. Romania is China’s good friend in the EU and good partner in the international community. Romania hopes to further deepen bilateral political relations, parliamentary exchanges and mutually beneficial cooperation in all fields such as economy, trade, and people-to-people and cultural engagement.
