Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Haixing Visits Romania to Hold Political Consultation Between the Two Foreign Ministries

From September 22 to 25, 2016, Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Haixing visited Romania, during which he met with Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, Commerce and Relations with the Business Environment Costin Borca of Romania, and held political consultation between the two foreign ministries with State Secretary of the Foreign Ministry Daniela Gîtman of Romania.

Liu Haixing expressed that Romania is one of the first countries in the world to establish diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China. In recent years, China and Romania have witnessed closer high-level exchanges, constantly consolidating political mutual trust and further deepening bilateral cooperation in major fields such as economy and trade, investment, energy and production capacity. Attaching great importance to the development of relations with Romania, China stands ready to make joint efforts with Romania to align the "Belt and Road" construction with Romania's long-term development strategies, dovetail international production capacity cooperation and the "16+1" cooperation with Romania's plans for energy and infrastructure construction, further raise the level of facilitation for bilateral trade, investment and personnel exchanges, and push bilateral major projects in energy, infrastructure construction and other fields for breakthroughs. Romania noted that it is willing to work with China to maintain the momentum of high-level exchanges, cement political mutual trust, expand trade scale and cooperation fields, and push Romania-China comprehensive friendly cooperative partnership for greater and new development. Both sides also exchanged views on international and regional situation as well as issues of common concern.
