Special Envoy on Afghan Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Yue Xiaoyong Visits Russia

On February 8, 2023, Special Envoy on Afghan Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Yue Xiaoyong paid a visit to Russia. He held talks with Russian Special Presidential Representative for Afghanistan Zamir Kabulov in Moscow and they exchanged in-depth views on the situation in Afghanistan, China-Russia coordination on Afghanistan, and other topics.

Both sides agreed that the sound cooperation between the two countries on the Afghan issue plays an important part in the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for a new era. Both as major countries in the region and important stakeholders in the Afghan issue, China and Russia stand ready to constantly strengthen bilateral and multilateral coordination on the Afghan issue, promote solidarity and cooperation among countries in the region, give full play to Foreign Ministers' Meeting among the Neighboring Countries of Afghanistan, the Moscow Format and other mechanisms, and take real actions to help Afghanistan's peaceful reconstruction and safeguard enduring security and common prosperity in the region.

During his visit, Yue Xiaoyong also attended the Fifth Multilateral Consultations of Secretaries of Security Councils and National Security Advisors on Afghanistan held in Moscow.
