From March 14 to 16, 2016, Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Haixing visited the Republic of Slovenia, met with President of the National Council Mitja Bervar of the Slovenia, Vice Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Karl Erjavec and Premier Office Secretary of State Janez Lenarčič of Slovenia, and held political consultation between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries with State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Darja Bavdaž Kuret of Slovenia.

Both sides deeply exchanged views on bilateral relations, "16+1 cooperation", China-EU relations and international and regional issues of common concern.
