On the afternoon of May 16, 2017, Premier Li Keqiang met at the Great Hall of the People with Prime Minister and President-elect Aleksandar Vucic of Serbia, who was in China for the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation.

Li Keqiang expressed that Serbia is the first Central and Eastern European country to establish a comprehensive strategic partnership with China. President Xi Jinping's successful visit to Serbia last year vigorously promoted China-Serbia relations. China is willing to, together with Serbia, transfer the profound traditional friendship to the impetus of common development, deeply integrate development strategies, and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields, so as to better benefit the two peoples.

Li Keqiang pointed out that Budapest-Belgrade railway is a demonstration project between the two sides in production capacity cooperation. It is hoped that both sides should press ahead with the project to continue to well implement its construction, and advance the expansion of regional connectivity. The Chinese side stands ready to work with Serbia to uplift bilateral trade, carry out agricultural processing cooperation, and increase exchanges in people-to-people and cultural engagement as well as tourism. Appreciating Serbia's consistent and active support and participation in the "16+1 cooperation", China is ready to, together with Central and Eastern European countries, including Serbia, jointly promote the "16+1 cooperation" toward a high level for the sake of mutual benefit, win-win and multi-win results.

Aleksandar Vucic said that Serbia is a trustworthy friend and partner of China. Bilateral cooperation has made constant progress. The Serbian side firmly believes that China's economic development will bring well-being to other countries, and is willing to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in production capacity, infrastructure, agriculture, and other sectors, and actively push forward the "16 + 1 cooperation".

After the meeting, Premier Li Keqiang and Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic jointly witnessed the signing of bilateral cooperation documents in infrastructure, economy, trade, investment and other fields.
