On June 26, 2017, President Xi Jinping met at the Great Hall of the People with Prime Minister Juha Sipilä of Finland.

Xi Jinping welcomed Juha Sipilä to attend the Summer Davos Forum in China, and pointed out that during my state visit to Finland this April, both countries have formally confirmed the building of a future-oriented new-type cooperative partnership. This is not only the continuation of China-Finland traditional and friendly relations, but also a strategic and long-term plan for the future development of bilateral relations. Under the current situation, China is willing to continuously join hands and make efforts with Finland to implement important consensus of both countries, so as to continuously promote bilateral relations for greater development. Both sides should mainly boost the docking of China's 13th Five-Year Plan with "Vision: Finland 2025", and forge more demonstrative cooperation projects in areas of telecommunications, intelligent manufacturing, bio-economy, environmental protection technology, energy-saving buildings and clean energy. The two sides should advance major people-to-people and cultural projects and enhance cooperation in winter sports as China will host the 2022Winter Olympic Games. China stands ready to strengthen cooperation with Finland in Arctic affairs under the framework of the Arctic Council.

Xi Jinping stressed that the 19th China-EU Summit has been successfully held not long ago. China and Europe should continuously boost construction of four major partnerships featuring peace, growth, reform and civilization, in a bid to inject positive and stable strength into the world development. China is willing to enhance policy communication with Northern European countries including Finland to constantly promote China-Northern Europe cooperation for new results and advance the development of China-Europe relations.

Juha Sipilä expressed condolences to China over the catastrophic landslide occurred in Mao County on June 24. He said that bilateral relations have witnessed satisfactory development. President Xi Jinping conducted a completely successful state visit to Finland this April, elevating bilateral relations to a new level. Finland is willing to expand areas including investment, environment, clean technology, smart cities, education, tourism, winter sports, Arctic affairs with China and cooperation under the "Belt and Road" framework, and is ready to actively facilitate cooperation of Northern European countries towards China to continue to achieve new progress.
