On the afternoon of June 27, 2017, Premier Li Keqiang held talks at Dalian State Guesthouse with Prime Minister Juha Sipilä of Finland, who was in China for the 2017 Summer Davos Forum.

Juha Sipilä first expressed condolences to the dead and the injured over the high-mountain collapse occurred in Sichuan. Li Keqiang expressed gratitude to Finland and said that China is making every effort to search and rescue the missing person and is properly carrying out relevant disaster relief work.

Li Keqiang noted that Finland is an important cooperation partner of China in Northern Europe and the EU. Recently, President Xi Jinping paid a successful visit to Finland, effectively pushing forward the development of bilateral relations. China is willing to, together with Finland, carry forward traditional friendship, forge ahead, seek innovation and push bilateral relations and cooperation for in-depth development, so as to achieve win-win results.

Li Keqiang pointed out that the Finnish side has advantages in the fields of environmental protection, high and new technologies and winter sports and so on. The two countries have huge potentials in cooperation. Both sides should find the exact integrating points of interests, deepen exchanges and cooperation in such areas as information and communication technologies, smart manufacturing, energy saving, environmental protection and new-type urbanization and jointly expand the third-party market. Both sides should strengthen cooperation in tourism and civil aviation and further intensify people-to-people and cultural exchanges.

Li Keqiang stressed that China welcomes Finland to assume the rotating presidency of Arctic Council from 2017 to 2019 and hopes to take this opportunity to strengthen bilateral exchanges and cooperation under the framework of Arctic Council. The Chinese side stands ready to work with Finland to strengthen communication on regional and international affairs and enhance cooperation under the frameworks of China-EU cooperation and cooperation between China and Northern Europe.

Juha Sipilä expressed that Finland and China maintain high-level exchanges. Bilateral relations and cooperation enjoy smooth development. The Finnish side hopes to accelerate the implementation of consensus reached by leaders of the two countries, promote mutually beneficial cooperation in areas such as smart cities, environmental protection, clean energy, food and digital information, strengthen cooperation in winter sports and assist China to well hold the 2022 Winter Olympics. The Finnish side welcomes enterprises and tourists from China to invest and travel in Finland and is willing to actively carry out exchanges and cooperation in Arctic affaires with the Chinese side.

After the talks, Premier Li Keqiang and Prime Minister Juha Sipilä jointly witnessed the signing of multiple bilateral cooperation documents in energy, sports, sustainable development and other fields.
