Spokesperson on the human rights report recently released by the German Government

2000-11-15 14:15
Q: Do you have any comment on the human rights report recently released by the German Government?

A: We have taken note of the human rights report recently published by the German side. The report distorts facts and makes unjustified accusations against China's human rights situation. It constitutes a serious interference in the internal affairs of China, to which the Chinese side expresses its firm opposition. The Chinese Government has made unremitting efforts to promote and protect human rights, which have scored great achievements, and have been universally recognized by the international community. We stand for human rights dialogue and exchanges on the basis of equality and mutual respect. But it must be pointed out that interference in other country's internal affairs under the pretext of "human rights" is in violation of international law and the basic norms governing international relations and is totally unacceptable.
