On June 11, 2012, Vice Foreign Minister Song Tao met with visiting Secretary General of Luxembourg's Ministry of Foreign Affairs Paul Duhr.

Song said that the successful visit of Chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee Wu Bangguo to Luxembourg last month vigorously promoted the development of the China-Luxembourg relations. He hopes the two sides make joint efforts to implement the results of the visit. Since the establishment of diplomatic ties 40 years ago, China and Luxembourg have always respected each other and treated each other as equals and achieved fruitful cooperation in various fields. Standing at a new starting point of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties, the two sides should continue to deepen the mutual political trust, tap the potential of pragmatic cooperation, enhance the bilateral trade and mutual investment, strengthen people-to-people exchanges and push for greater progress of the bilateral relations.

Duhr spoke highly of the important role of Wu's visit of boosting the bilateral relations. He believes that the sound bilateral relations serve the interests of both countries and the two peoples. Luxembourg is willing to take advantage of its geological position as the center of Europe to further facilitate Chinese enterprises' investment in Europe.

The two sides also exchanged views on the European sovereign debt and the Syrian issues.
