Yang Jiechi Meets with President of the Chamber of Deputies Mars di Bartolomeo of Luxembourg

On April 15, 2016, State Councilor Yang Jiechi met at the Chamber of Deputies with President of the Chamber of Deputies Mars di Bartolomeo of Luxembourg.

Yang Jiechi expressed that Luxembourg is a trustworthy friend of China within the European Union (EU). Since the establishment of diplomatic relations over 40 years ago, the two countries have always respected each other and treated each other as equals. Both countries have shown mutual understanding and mutual support on key issues of each other’s concern, becoming a model for the harmonious coexistence between countries of different territory sizes and systems. The economic and trade cooperation between the two countries has yielded fruitful results, and people-to-people and cultural exchanges are pushing forward in an orderly way. Parliamentary exchanges are key parts of bilateral relations. China stands ready to strengthen exchanges with the Chamber of Deputies of Luxembourg, enhance mutual understanding, and advance dialogues and communication on issues including state governance, democracy and the rule of law, social welfare and ecological protection so as to play an important role in promoting a more comprehensive and balanced development of bilateral relations.

Mars di Bartolomeo said that Luxembourg-China relations have always maintained a momentum of close and sound development. Both sides share consensus and common interests in many aspects. As a major participant and key cooperative partner, China plays a decisive and important role in addressing peace and development and other related issues in current society. Luxembourg pays high attention to developing its relations with China, and is willing to further conduct closer communication and cooperation in politics, economy and trade, people-to-people and culture exchanges and other areas. Luxembourg’s Chamber of Deputies is willing to strengthen exchanges with the National People's Congress (NPC) of China.
