Wang Yi Holds Talks with Foreign Minister Jean Asselborn of Luxembourg

On July 21, 2016, Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks in Beijing with Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Jean Asselborn of Luxembourg, who was paying an official visit to China.

Wang Yi expressed that China attaches great importance to the traditional friendship between the two countries, and commits itself to building a long-term and stable partnership full of vitality with Luxembourg. Adhering to equal treatment and mutual respect, the two sides have carried out friendly cooperation with fruitful outcomes. China is willing to firmly grasp the two mainlines of friendship and practicability, consolidate political mutual trust, further promote the level of practical cooperation in such areas as finance, airfreight and steel, and conduct closer people-to-people and cultural exchanges, so as to constantly advance China-Luxembourg relations to new levels.

Wang Yi pointed out that the 18th China-EU Summit has yielded positive results. China will continue to firmly support the European integration process and actively boost the stable and in-depth development of China-EU relations. It is believed that the EU side can proceed from the big picture of China-EU relations and carry out its obligation in Article 15 of the Protocol on the Accession of China to the World Trade Organization (WTO) as scheduled.

Jean Asselborn expressed that Luxembourg and China enjoy traditional friendship and Luxembourg pays attention to developing relationship with China. The country is satisfied with the smooth development of bilateral relations, especially the economic and trade cooperation. Luxembourg is willing to join efforts with China to comprehensively enhance practical cooperation in various fields, so as to promote bilateral relations to achieve better development. Luxembourg attaches importance to China's concerns on the EU's implementation of its obligation in Article 15 of the Protocol on the Accession of China to the WTO and supports the EU and China to properly resolve differences through consultation. The country is willing to continuously play a positive role in the development of EU-China relations.

Both sides also exchanged in-depth views on international and regional issues of common concern.
