On July 21, 2016, State Councilor Yang Jiechi met at Zhongnanhai with Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Jean Asselborn of Luxembourg.

Yang Jiechi expressed that China and Luxembourg share a long-term, healthy and stable relationship. With fruitful results from practical cooperation and people-to-people and cultural exchanges, bilateral relations enjoy a bright development prospect. Both sides should take the 45th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations next year as an opportunity to consolidate political mutual trust and comprehensively deepen cooperation, so as to open up a new situation of China-Luxembourg relations. China will support the European integration process as always and commit itself to deepening China-EU relations and practical cooperation.

Jean Asselborn expressed that China is an important cooperative partner of Luxembourg. Luxembourg is willing to enhance exchanges with China at high-level and other levels, continuously elevate the level of cooperation in various fields and support the EU and China to strengthen mutually beneficial and win-win cooperation.
