On January 16, 2015, President Xi Jinping and Head of State Prince Albert II of Monaco exchanged congratulatory messages in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relationship between China and Monaco.

Xi Jinping said in his congratulatory message that the China-Monaco relations have been enjoying a good development since the establishment of the diplomatic relationship 20 years ago. With the joint efforts of both sides, bilateral political mutual trust has been continuously consolidated, bilateral cooperation in all fields has developed rapidly, and people-to-people and cultural exchanges have become increasingly closer. The two countries support each other in international affairs, setting a model of mutual respect, equal treatment and harmonious co-existence among big and small countries. I attach great importance to the development of China-Monaco relations and am willing to work together with you to constantly expand and deepen the friendly exchanges and cooperation in all fields between the two countries, exploit our respective advantages for mutual benefits and win-win outcomes, and boost the bilateral relations to a new level.

Prince Albert II said that the Monaco-China friendly relations have been consolidated and developed continuously since the establishment of the diplomatic relationship, and the mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries has been very active in such fields as culture, education, sports and economy. He expressed his belief that the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relationship will further enhance the friendship between the two countries and promote the bilateral practical cooperation for more fruitful results.
