Wang Yi Meets with Minister of Foreign Affairs Ine Eriksen Søreide of Norway

On November 20, 2017 local time, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Minister of Foreign Affairs Ine Eriksen Søreide of Norway on the sidelines of the Foreign Ministers' Meeting of the Asia-Europe Meeting in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar.

Wang Yi expressed that China and Norway have further enhanced political mutual trust, gradually recovered exchanges at all levels and brought communication in various fields back to the right track since bilateral relations realized normalization last year. China hopes and believes that the new Norwegian government will continue its attachment to relations with China, abide by related commitments of the normalization of bilateral relations, fully respect and earnestly take care of China's core interests and major concerns and well grasp the correct direction of China-Norway relations, so as to promote bilateral relations for continuous development. China is willing to deepen cooperation in various fields with Norway, and jointly cope with climate change and other global challenges.

Ine Eriksen Søreide expressed that Norway is pleased with the positive progress achieved from the normalization of bilateral relations, and will abide by the declaration on the normalization of bilateral relations, adhere to the one-China policy and respect China's core interests and major concerns. Norway shares the common stance with China on supporting globalization, promoting free trade, opposing protectionism and other perspectives, and is ready to work with China to speed up bilateral negotiation progress in free trade agreement, carry out cooperation in economy, trade, ocean, winter sports and other fields, attract more Chinese tourists to travel to Norway, and intensify communication and coordination in international affairs.
