On November 26, 2018, Vice Foreign Minister Wang Chao met with outgoing Norwegian Ambassador to China Geir O. Pedersen.

Speaking positively of the development of China-Norway relations, Vice Foreign Minister Wang Chao appreciated the active efforts made by Geir O. Pedersen to promote bilateral relations and practical cooperation in various fields, and encouraged him to continue caring for and supporting the cause of China-Norway friendship after taking office as Special Envoy for Syria of the United Nations Secretary-General.

Geir O. Pedersen thanked the Chinese side's support and convenience for his fulfillment of duties in his term of office, and expressed his full confidence in the sustained, sound and in-depth development of Norway-China relations as well as his willingness to enhance communication and coordination with the Chinese side in his new post.
