On January 31, 2024, Vice Foreign Minister Deng Li met with outgoing Spanish Ambassador to China Rafael Dezcallar de Mazarredo.

Deng Li spoke highly of Rafael Dezcallar de Mazarredo's contributions to the development of China-Spain relations during his tenure as Ambassador to China, saying that China is ready to work with Spain to follow through on the common understandings reached between the leaders of the two countries, push for new achievements of China-Spain comprehensive strategic partnership and promote the sound and stable development of China-Europe relations.

Rafael Dezcallar de Mazarredo thanked the Chinese side for providing convenience for him to perform his duties in China, stressing that Spain attaches importance to China's standing and influence and is ready to deepen exchanges and cooperation with China and serve as a bridge between Europe and China.
