On July 9, 2012, Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi held talks with Antonella Mularoni, San Marino's secretary of state for foreign and political affairs, telecommunications and transport.

Yang extended welcome for Mularoni's visit to China. He said the two countries have been developing bilateral ties in line with the principles of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit. China is willing to deepen its traditional friendship with San Marino, enhance pragmatic cooperation, expand people-to-people and cultural exchanges and strengthen coordination in international affairs in a bid to push the ties to a new level, he said.

Mularoni said she appreciates China's proposal for equality among all nations, big or small, in the United Nations and other international organizations. She also said she appreciates China's important role in the international arena, noting that her country is willing to expand cooperation with China in economics, trade, investment and tourism and deepen friendly relations.
