On December 5, 2017, Assistant Foreign Minister Qin Gang met with outgoing Barbadian Ambassador to China Chelston Brathwaite. Qin Gang appreciated Chelston Brathwaite for the work he has done during his tenure as Ambassador to China, and hoped that he could continue making contributions to promoting China-Barbados and China-Latin America friendly cooperation. Chelston Brathwaite thanked China for providing convenience and assistance for the fulfillment of duties during his term of office. Admiring China's great development achievements, Chelston Brathwaite highly appraised that China is like a beacon which lights the future way for the vast developing countries, and expressed that he will continue caring for and supporting the development of China-Barbados relations after leaving his post.
