On May 31, 2010, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi sent a congratulation telegraph to Surujrattan Rambachan who becomes the foreign minister of the new government of Trinidad and Tobago.

Yang first of all extended warm congratulations and best wishes to Rambachan. He noted that China-Trinidad and Tobago relations have developed stably and the two countries have witnessed ever deepening pragmatic cooperation, dynamic cultural exchanges and sound communications and coordination in international affairs since they established diplomatic ties 36 years ago. He expressed willingness of making joint efforts with Rambachan to strengthen cooperation between the two foreign ministries and push forward the mutually beneficial and friendly cooperation. He finally expressed wishes for good health and smooth work to Rambachan.
