Zeng Qinghong Meets with Dominican President

On March 20, 2006, Vice Chinese President Zeng Qinghong met with President of the Commonwealth of Dominica Nicolas Liverpool in the Great Hall of the People.

Zeng said that since the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries, bilateral friendly cooperative relations have been developing rapidly with joint efforts of both sides. The two countries have conducted frequent high-level exchanges, strengthened mutual political trust, actively carried out exchanges and cooperation in the areas of economy & trade, agriculture, education and tourism and maintained close communication in international affairs. Facts have proven that bilateral friendly cooperation conforms to the fundamental, long-term interest of both peoples. Zeng appreciated Dominica for adhering to the one-China principle and opposing the separatist activities aimed at "Taiwan independence".

Zeng indicated that the Chinese government attaches great importance to relations with Dominica and would like to work with Dominica to push bilateral friendly relations and mutually beneficial cooperation in various areas for continuous development. China will continue to support efforts by the Dominican government and people in promoting national economic and social development and encourage Chinese businesses to conduct all forms of economic and trade cooperation in Dominica. Zeng also noted that China would like to strengthen ties with all Caribbean nations based on the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence and make unremitting efforts in pushing for in-depth development of Sino-Caribbean economic and trade cooperation.

Liverpool said that the Dominican government resolutely supports the one-China policy and opposes "Taiwan independence". Liverpool thanked the Chinese government for its support and assistance and indicated that his country would like to work with China to further strengthen bilateral friendly cooperation in various areas and continuously advance the development of bilateral relations.
