Wang Yi Meets with the Joint Visiting Group of Principals of Government Departments of the Dominican Republic

On May 28, 2018, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met in Beijing with the joint visiting group of principals of government departments of the Dominican Republic.

Wang Yi expressed that China and the Dominican Republic have just established diplomatic relations for less than a month, and the Dominican Republic sent a joint delegation consisting of principals of ten government departments to visit China, which embodies the country's enthusiasm for developing relations with China. Enjoying broad space for cooperation, China and the Dominican Republic should speed up integration, and push forward cooperation in various fields, so as to translate the political decision of establishing bilateral diplomatic relations into tangible results as soon as possible. Time will definitely prove that the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the Dominican Republic is a totally right decision, which completely conforms to the fundamental interests of the Dominican Republic and its people.

Head of the group and Vice Minister of Development Policy of the Ministry of the Presidency Juan Ariel Jimenez of the Dominican Republic expressed that they witnessed the great development achievements China has made, and were deeply impressed. Establishing diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China on the basis of the one-China principle is not only the will of the government of the Dominican Republic, but also has gained the unanimous support of all sectors of society in the country. The Dominican Republic stands ready to be China's strategic partner in Latin America and the Caribbean, and believes that cooperation between the Dominican Republic and China will surely yield fruitful results.
