Assistant Foreign Minister Qin Gang Visits Grenada

From July 30 to 31, 2017, Assistant Foreign Minister Qin Gang visited Grenada, during which he met with Governor-General Cécile La Grenade of Grenada and Prime Minister Keith Mitchell of Grenada, and held talks with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Elvin Nimrod of Grenada, exchanging in-depth views on bilateral relations and international and regional issues of common concern.

Qin Gang expressed that since China and Grenada resumed diplomatic relations 12 years ago, the two countries have always respected and equally treated each other with continuous development of bilateral friendly relations. Belonging to developing countries, both China and Grenada should enhance bilateral cooperation in various fields, support and coordinate with each other in multilateral affairs. China congratulates Grenada on taking over the rotating presidency of the Caribbean Community, and expresses the willingness to fully attend the cooperative needs and concerns associated with the Caribbean on the basis of existing sound cooperation, so as to press ahead bilateral relations for continuous and steady development.

Thanking China for providing selfless assistance to Grenada’s economic and social development and the improvement of people’s livelihood, the Grenadian side expressed that the two countries enjoy political mutual trust, increasingly close cooperation in various fields and constant deepening of cultural integration. The two sides have developed brotherly friendship. The Grenadian side stands ready to continuously enhance cooperation with China, and play a coordinating role in the Caribbean region, so as to push China-Caribbean relations and China-Latin America overall cooperation for forward-looking development.

During his visit, Qin Gang conducted field inspection on the China-funded agriculture demonstration park and stadium in Grenada.
