On July 20, 2022 local time, President of the Republic of the Congo Denis Sassou Nguesso met with visiting Special Representative of the Chinese Government on African Affairs Xu Jinghu in Brazzaville. Chinese Ambassador to the Republic of the Congo Ma Fulin and others were present at the meeting.

Sassou asked Xu Jinghu to convey his sincere greetings to President Xi Jinping. Sassou said, the Republic of the Congo and China enjoy ever-lasting and time-tested friendship. The Republic of the Congo thanks China for its sincere and long-term help to the country's economic and social development. In June last year, I had a phone conversation with President Xi Jinping and we reached important consensus on further developing bilateral relations. The Republic of the Congo firmly pursues the one-China principle and stands ready to work with China to consolidate political mutual trust, deepen pragmatic cooperation in various fields, and keep close communication and collaboration on multilateral occasions, so as to promote the sustained and in-depth development of the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries.

Xu Jinghu conveyed President Xi Jinping's cordial greetings to President Sassou. Xu Jinghu said, in recent years, under the personal care and guidance of the two heads of state, the relations between China and the Republic of the Congo have been running at a high level. Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the two countries have stood together with mutual assistance, vividly interpreting "a friend in need is a friend indeed". Overcoming the impact of the pandemic, the two sides have made sustained progress in pragmatic cooperation in various fields. China is ready to make joint efforts with the Republic of the Congo to continue actively implementing the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, so as to constantly push bilateral relations to new levels.

Special Representative Xu Jinghu visited the Republic of the Congo from July 18 to 20. During the visit, she also held talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Congolese Nationals Abroad of the Republic of Congo Jean-Claude GAKOSSO and Minister of Development, Territorial Equipment and Public Works Jean Jacques BOUYA respectively.
