Chinese Mission to ASEAN Holds Media Salon with Theme of China’s Economic Outlook and China-ASEAN Economic and Trade Cooperation

On March 28, the Chinese Mission held the first Media Salon of 2024. Ambassador Hou Yanqi attended the event with diplomats from the Economic and Commercial Office. Over 30 participants from media and think tanks were present.

Ambassador Hou provided a briefingon China’sTwo Sessions, andstressed thatthe momentum of China’s economic rebound continues to strengthen, saying that China's economy has strong resilience, great potential and sufficient vitality, and that the “China Collapse”Theory has collapsedand the “PeakChina” has no factual basis.

Ambassador Hou pointed out, facing sluggish global economic recovery and rising protectionist tendency, China proposes to build a universally beneficial and inclusive economic globalization. China will solidly promote high-quality development, accelerate the development of new quality productive forces, and bring positive energy to the recovery of the world economy with a high-level openness.

She emphasized that China-ASEAN economic and trade cooperation is full of opportunities and has broad prospects, and should actively synergize development strategies, implement the Global Development Initiative and build a closer China-ASEAN community with a shared future.

Ambassador Hou and other diplomats responded toquestions related to new qualityproductive forces, high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, development cooperation and so on.
