On November 25, 2019, Assistant Foreign Minister Chen Xiaodong met at the Foreign Ministry with Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs Ali Sulaiman Al-Saeid of Kuwait, who came to China for the first meeting of the China-Kuwait bilateral cooperation implementation mechanism.

Chen Xiaodong expressed, China and Kuwait enjoy traditional friendship. In 2018, the two countries established a strategic partnership, ushering in a new chapter of bilateral relations. The Chinese side stands ready to work with the Kuwaiti side to well implement the important consensus reached by President Xi Jinping and Emir Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, make good use of the bilateral cooperation implementation mechanism, and promote friendly and mutually beneficial cooperation on all fronts in a balanced way, in a bid to promote the comprehensive development of bilateral relations.

Ali Sulaiman Al-Saeid expressed, the Kuwaiti side attaches great importance to developing relations with China, and firmly upholds the One China principle. The Kuwaiti side is ready to deepen practical cooperation with the Chinese side in such areas as deepening the joint building of the Belt and Road Initiative, economy, trade, and people-to-people and cultural exchanges. The Kuwaiti side is willing to strengthen cooperation and coordination in international and regional affairs with the Chinese side to push for greater development of Kuwait-China strategic partnership.

On the same day, Director-General of the Department of West Asian and North African Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Wang Di held the first meeting of the China-Kuwait bilateral cooperation implementation mechanism with Ali Sulaiman Al-Saeid in Beijing. The two sides exchanged views on bilateral relations and international and regional issues of common concern.
