On October 19, 2022, Special Envoy of the Chinese Government on the Middle East Issue Zhai Jun met with Ambassador of Yemen to China Mohammed Al-Maitami. Maitami extended warm congratulations on the successful convening of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. He expressed that the Congress is an important conference convened at a great historical juncture, and will chart the course for and inject new and strong impetus into China's development. Zhai Jun expressed gratitude for this.

The two sides also exchanged views on China-Yemen relations.
