Han Zheng Meets with Transitional President of Guinea Mamadi Doumbouya

On September 19, 2023 local time, Vice President Han Zheng met with Transitional President of Guinea Mamadi Doumbouya on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Han Zheng conveyed President Xi Jinping's sincere greetings to Mamadi Doumbouya. Han Zheng said that Guinea is the first sub-Saharan African country to establish diplomatic relations with China. The Chinese people and the Guinean people have had long-term sincerity and friendship, and practical cooperation between the two countries has tremendous potential. China appreciates Guinea for joining the Group of Friends of Global Development Initiative, and stands ready to work with Guinea to carry forward traditional friendship, expand mutually beneficial cooperation, and work for solid and sustained progress in bilateral relations.

Han Zheng said that strengthening solidarity and cooperation with African countries is a basic guideline of China's foreign policy. China respects the Guinean people's independent choice of a development path and independent advancement of the political transitioning process. China is ready to strengthen cooperation with Guinea in international affairs, continue to support each other on issues involving their respective core interests, and jointly safeguard the interests of developing countries.

Mamadi Doumbouya asked Han Zheng to convey his cordial wishes to President Xi Jinping, and said that the Guinean people and the Chinese people have profound friendship. Guinea attaches great importance to growing its relations with China, supports the important initiatives put forth by President Xi Jinping, and stands ready to work with China to accelerate the advancement of practical cooperation in various fields, and elevate bilateral relations to a new level.
